John, a lawyer by profession, has spent the last 30 years building Stewarts, the U.K.'s largest litigation-only firm.

 

In 2022, he handed over the reins to another generation, having created a law firm with a £100 million plus annual turnover. Along the way, he has owned and developed a dozen properties at home and abroad. His flair for mastering detail and managing a substantial business provides the perfect opportunity to apply those skills to property development and renovation.

 

Hugo’s grandfather, Manuel Madureira, was an entrepreneur who bought, sold and developed land and property in Portugal and Brazil.
Hugo learned much from his grandfather, who encouraged his passion for art and design (which he studied in Portugal, Finland, and the UK). He was to be his first investor in a jewellery showroom in Porto’s gallery district.

 

Since those early days, Hugo has established his high-end jewellery brand. Now, partnering with John, he returns to his grandfather’s roots to support Cahill Properties, which has composition, sustainability, and design as crucial components.
